Hey that's awesome! Reminds me of the "olden days" back with my siblings making forts and fishing poles in the willows in the creek.

I just stumbled on your blog from Twitter, so am late posting to this entry. I love this entry! I am a mom of six. My four oldest are grown and on their own but I still have 14 yr. old twins at home. I have homeschooled them from the start. They both still love to go outside and build campfire rings, homes for animals and many other things with rocks and sticks. In fact, one of my daughters, has a terrarium in which she keeps a small snake and a lizard. She'll go out and search our 5 acre property for "food" for them.

Oh how I wish we lived on property, instead of a small city lot. :)

But, even with our very small yard, our kids do have free time, they do build things, they do have their own make-believe worlds.

Many children don't know how to really "play" because they spend too much time with technology: iPods, wii, Game Boys, Play Station, X-box, etc... Our children don't have any of those things ... so they do know how to play.
