Not Me Monday: Fruitful Fish and Fast Feet

This week Mark did not pour a whole pitcher of pink lemonade into our fish tank thinking  it was water. In a desperate attempt to save fishy lives, I did not grab a mixing bowl and start scooping the poor fish out of the water pink lemonade and into the mixing bowl on the kitchen counter. Our improvised  fish tank mixing bowl did not stay on the counter overnight and I certainly did not make breakfast the next morning with the all those fishy eyes watching me.

We did not have a zillion fish because we are homeschoolers and decided to buy live bearers for educational purposes. After this episode we do not have 999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999, 999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,997 fish. (I did not have to look up how many 0’s are in a zillion.) For those of you who are less adroit at math than I am, we lost 3 fish and considering the level of contamination in the tank, I do not consider myself a fish hero of sorts.  :)

This week I did not post that there were “short experts of each of the DVDs” rather than “short excerpts”. If I had my mom would not have called me laughing hysterically to point out my mistake. Nope, because if she had called and laughed at me I might  just have to remind everyone who my English teacher was. (You do remember that I was homeschooled, right?)

Saturday the seven oldest children were entered in a 1 mile road race. Mark was going to run with Sadie (5) and I was to run with Savannah (4). I was not worried about being able to keep up with a four year old .

When Savannah finished in first place for her age division (that girl can run), I did not secretly celebrate the fact  that I had run a mile faster than all the other 4 year olds. Of course I already knew that I could run faster than four year olds, ahem.

Kids after race

After the race we did not allow the children to have ice cream cones, not at 9:30 in the morning and not after running a mile race.  If we had allowed the big kids to indulge in a cold treat, we would at least have kept the frozen concoction away from Nicholas (1) because, you know that he might make a huge mess if someone were to give him an ice cream cone.Nick eating ice cream cone

Well, just for the record, Sadie also placed first in her age group and Alssya third in hers. Amber, Matthew, and Carter placed fourth in their age groups and Kaitlin sixth. In case anyone is actually interested in how the other children did. :)

    MomStarr,
It is all in how you look at it. Most of these things are not funny at the time. I think every mom should be required to think up a Not Me post each week. It honestly does make you think of things from a different angle and it has helped me to loosen up a bit.

    Amanda,
Good for you on the 5K walk. Don’t be too impressed, remember I was “running” at 4 year old speed and I was very thankful that I did not slow her down. That was my main thought, “Don’t blow this for Savannah!”

    Sandra,
Ha ha ha ha! You crack me up!

Just for the record. I actually did not give Nick an ice cream cone, Sandra did! Well, she said that he stole hers, but honestly who is going to believe that a little baby old stole an ice cream cone from a mom of 3 tough boys? NOT ME! :D

My poor goldfish use to drink all sorts of things. (thanks to my beautiful babies) LOL They have had milk, koolaid, gatoraid, crackers, cookies, berries and all sorts of stuff. Somehow those things lived for 6 years. They did not give in until I tried to buy them a friend. (little did I know their friend was diseased. :-( ) Our fishies where amaizingly resileint. It is about time to scrub the tank down, refill it, and get some more fish for the kiddies.
