You may have heard about the summer storms in the news. Well they aren’t just staying in the mid-west. We came home yesterday afternoon to this sight.I know it’s hard to tell, but this is a really big tree.
Here is Mark where the roots were torn up. It stands nearly 6′ out of the ground.
In God’s providence it’s fall did not damage anything. It fell between our neighbors fence and our picnic table and my sister and brother-in-laws trailer. (We are trailer sitting while they try to sell their home. Hi guys, don’t worry we’re taking very good care of your trailer.) It fell directly onto our wood pile, right where it belongs.
We have a lot of huge trees all around our home and this is the third large one that has fallen since we moved less than 4 years ago, but none have done any damage. Shortly after we moved in, we had a tree expert out and he said that all of our trees were sound and none needed to be taken down. I guess that God disagreed.

So glad nobody or nothing was hurt by the falling tree…and the trip to the woodpile is not so far either ; )

Had to come and check out your photos! Wow!! How convenient for you (and the tree) that it fell upon your wood pile!

God is amazing in how He protects us! He is so good! I am glad your home and belongings are safe!

Well, how convenient; close to the woodpile. God has a sense of humor, doesn’t he?

Glad to hear that there was no damage and no one was hurt. God is good!

I agree with JenT – God has a sense of humor! He got the tree next to the woodpile and saved you a bunch of money from having the “tree experts” take your trees out. He is doing it His way and creating work for y’all, but…
Glad everyone’s ok!

So glad no more damage was done in the storm. A friend of my husband lost the entire upper story of his home 2 weeks. Thankfully, no one was home at the time. The only things they could salvage from his daughter’s room were a few clothes and some of her doll collection!
Thank you for your comment concerning combining children with Sonlight. I knew that people had success combining a couple of children, but had no idea that you could combine that wide of an age range. That sounds wonderful!

That is a massive tree! I bet the kids will think it’s tons of fun to walk along. How fortunate for you to have it land directly in the wood pile and yet damage nothing else!

Can someone direct me to where combining children with Sonlight was discussed? I plan to use core 2 and 7 with my 5 school age children next fall, I have confidence that I can do that but any tips are much appreciated.

LongTribe,
I haven’t posted about combining children with Sonlight, yet. I am VERY slowly posting about homeschooling and haven’t gotten around to HOW we homeschool. I’m still working on WHY we homeschool.
We are currently using 5 with all of our children and next year we will be combining 1 and 6 next and then 2 and 7 the year after that. Did you already combine 1 and 6? Do you have any pointers, ideas or helps? I’m all ears!
You’ve probably already looked, but the Sonlight forums tend to have a lot of good ideas.
Blessings,
Kimberly
