I am not a huge fan of plastic talking, blinking, flashing toys. We have some, I’m just not a fan. I love natural . It’s one of the reasons that I enjoy cloth diapers. When I pat baby’s back side I like to hear and feel the nice solid thud of cotton and wool between me and baby not the crinkle, crinkle of paper. I enjoy using the things that God made in the form that He made them, so I love solid wood toys. Toys that are not only beautiful, they last.
Pioneer Pastimes offers the types of toys that I love. Not only are the toys made with real hard wood, they are hand-crafted and are simple, classic toys that have delighted children for generations.
When we received our box of Pioneer Pastimes toys our children were ecstatic. They all wanted to check out the new and exciting toys. More than an hour later, after playing non-stop, I had to pry them away to get some school work done. When daddy came home they all ran to show him their favorite and begged him to come outside to play the ring toss game with them.
Our children were especially fascinated with the top. We had never seen one spin for so long, so it evolved into a competition of who could make it spin the longest. Of course Nicholas’ (1) favorite was the little push toy. He rolled it around making sound effects and chewing on it until one of his siblings came around and then he would squawk as if to say, “Keep your distance, this is mine”. (We’re still working on kindness and sharing with that one.
)
Pioneer Pastimes is a new, family owned and operated business and offers these quality hand-crafted toys. They have also created some lovely pieces of furniture and are open to taking custom orders until they get their intended furniture line up and running.
I love this large table with storage drawers. It would be perfect for school, crafts and of course, eating. Mark and I looked for a table just like this for a long time as large quality tables are difficult to find.
Pioneer Pastimes is giving away one of their timeless, hand-crafted, wood toys to a Raising Olives reader. All you need to do to be entered to win is visit the Pioneer Pastimes website, decide which toy your children would enjoy and then come back here and leave a comment telling me which toy you would pick. You may blog or tweet about the giveaway for additional entries, leaving an additional comment for each entry.
This giveaway will end at midnight on August 6.

My four little ones (all under 4 1/2 years) would love the turtle…he’s so cute!
We’d love the elephant push toy
Cute stuff!!I am loving the hippo, he is just adorable!
Thank you for posting this link! We have long been on a hunt for the perfect table that will seat at least 10 people. I am going to contact them now!
As far as the toy, I would say the seal push toy or the Momma Bear and Cub pull toy.
I also like the Momma Bear and cub, but it may not be included in the give away as it is more expensive. If not, I like the push turtle as well. I’m sure Caedmon and Eli would both enjoy it!!
Thanks,
anita
I love this table! We are currently looking for a large strong table. I too love the drawers!
My three would really enjoy the multi-wood top! Looks like lots of fun! What a neat site!
They would probably like the Jacob’s ladder. I saw that the business was in Maryville; my mom lives there. I might have to order something even if I don’t win.
I tweeted the give-a-way! @inheartandarms
As for visiting the site, I don’t think there is a toy there my kids wouldn’t love! I think the Mama bear & cubs would be my first choice, with the turtle push toy second.
My little Ellie would love that push turtle, absolutely adorable.
I think my kids would love any toy on the site, but that multi-wood top sounds very cool.
I love the turtle push toy! My boys would have a lot of fun with it!
I think this is a great idea. What a great website. I love how solid the toys look!
I like the turtle push toy, but the mama bear and cub does not fall too far behind.
Thanks for the giveaway, my kids would love the top!
My boys would love the Hoop Toss Game! I could see them playing that!

My girls would enjoy the top. These look like very well made pieces!
Hi! Love your site! Love the Mama bear and cubs pull toy; my kiddos love baby animals.
I like the mama bear and cubs pull toy. But, what really caught my eye, is the picture of that table. We can’t find one big enough-that one really looks nice and would seat many.
My boys would LOVE the elephant!
The top looks like it would be great fun for any of my 5 kids! But they had lots of cool stuff!
I think my boys would absolutely love the top!! Once my 4 and a half year old was playing with his cousin’s cheap top and couldn’t put it down!! Also love the table.
My kids would love the wooden top or the noisemakers. The table is beautiful!
I agree with other posts – the table is beautiful! I also like the top and seal toys.
The hoop toss game would be fun for all the cousins to play!
Oh that elephant push toy is just darling…my son will be 10 months old in August and I think that is something he would really enjoy playing with, or chewing on
We also like more natural type toys and living in general. My husband and I have been having an ongoing discussion about what kinds of toys to get Isaiah as he grows older (we are also expecting another baby this fall), and are trying to make a list of things we’d like so that people have something to go on when they are thinking about what to get him for his birthday. We have a lot of relatives and I can just imagine him receiving a huge pile of plastic, LOUD, annoying, and un-imaginative toys
Maybe I will suggest some things from Pioneer Pastimes!
Thanks for hosting such a neat giveaway!
I don’t think I have ever commented on your blog before, but from the things I have read we seem to have a lot in common, though I am just not as far along in life as you are so I have throughly appreciated everything I have learned from you so far. I am so thankful that I somehow (and I can’t even remember how!) stumbled upon your blog one day. It has been a blessing to me ever since.

If I won, I would choose the Turtle Push Toy!

My son would love the elephant push toy! These wooden toys are so beautiful, and they’re great for the environment too!
My boys would love any of the toys, but I think the hippo and mama/baby bear toys are so cute. The mama and baby bears really go with our blog theme, but I wasn’t sure if they are included in the giveaway. My sons, ages 18 months and 3 are into anything with wheels, so one of these toys would be a big hit!

My favorite toy is that turtle! My boys would love that!
I love the Momma Bear & cubs pull toy, so cute. thanks!
My girls would love the turtle push toy! I have to say, I had one of those Jacob’s ladder toys as a child and adored it. I turned it over and over until the side strips wore out. I think they’d probably love that as well. Beautiful toys!!
Oh, I know my two year old would enjoy the elephant push toy. So cute!
My littlest brother would love the elephant push toy! But the turtle toy comes in a close second, they are both so cute!
We’d love the hippo push toy!
We like the Hippo which go perfect in the church nursery since my children are older.
I too am a fan of the more natural, back-to-basics toys. They also make great gifts– I mean, anyone can buy a Fisher Price plastic blinking, singing (annoying!) toy, but the handmade stuff is unique.
My favorites are the elephant push toy and wooden top. Thanks for hosting!
I believe my kids would LOVE the spinning top. It was a hard toss up between that and the hoop toss, but my little guy loves to sit and watch things move. Soooo Top it is.
It’s a tough choice as they’re all so cute, but I’d have to choose the Hippo push toy. I’m a big fan of toys that last and can be saved for grandchildren when my children are grown.
I love the wooden top. I also love that table, and agree that it would be awesome for home schooling!!

I like the Seal Push Toy
My 5 and 2 year old boys would love the wooden top.
We love the Hippo! A couple years ago my husband and oldest son came back from Camp Echoing Hills with the Hippo song…”Hip, hip, hip-o-pot-o-mus. Hip, hip, hurray God made all of us!
