Thanks for your encouraging comments. I appreciate each of you taking the time to encourage me!

JenT,
We used a midwife for our homebirths. We have had trouble with some of our children's births and the last one ended with the baby having a birth injury, Erb's Palsy, so we were thankful for the midwife's presence!

MomStarr,
Love you and your precious kids, each and every one of them. Praise God for His goodness and mercy!

Hi,
I've been reading your blog for a while now. I found you through "Not Me Monday." I just wanted to say that I enjoy it a lot. Right now I'm a working mom of a 2 year old son, but I have found a lot of good hints and tips. I love your "Works for Me" posts. I also really liked the Sense and Sensibility pattern review. If you try out any of the women's sizes, I would love to know how they turn out. The Regency patterns are supposed to be good for nursing/maternity. Making my own clothes (including foundation garments!) seems daunting to me, but I may have to strike out on my own adventure with the sewing machine. Hopefully I will need them sooner than later, but that's not really my call.

Hello!

Thanks for visiting my blog. I agree strongly with your view on children being a blessing. Funny how people worry that having lots of children, or staying home makes you lose your "identity"- to me anyway, that is part of who I am. There are lots of sides of "me" and that is one of them. I think it is an honor and a blessing to stay home. Our house is small and I sometimes long for a bigger house- which maybe I could have if I worked, but I so prefer to raise my own children. It is worth it. I appreciate your views on larger families also. We have 4, and expect a 5th child may be in our future, but we don't tell anyone because most people think we are nuts, so they will just have to be surprised if/when God decides to send him/her here. :)

Kimberly!
Loved the post! It was great. I am impressed by the way you wrote about how many kids you have. Too many totally dis big families or make everyone feel that they should have a big family. Your post was wonderfully balanced! I also like Cardamoms Pod's post above mine. And you know, I only have 3, but I also find myself getting grumpy when I have to leave the home! And I struggle with the selfish desire for wanting more time alone, too. Are any of us really above that? I don't think so.

Great post, as always, Kimberly! The "me time" thing is something I always get from people, too. "Don't you ever miss adult conversation? I'll bet you have NO time for yourself AT ALL!" And you are right, we do have to struggle with those thoughts that creep in everyday. I will say that for me, I do really enjoy an occasional grocery shopping trip - alone. (Usually Dave gets groceries here or there, or I have some children with me.) Time to just be quiet, pray, and stock up so I can be effective at home. Actually, I struggle with getting grumpy if I have to LEAVE the house - I wish I could have everything delivered to me at home! :-)

Kimberly, as always your posts about family, and raising children, are an inspiration to me. I so needed to sit down, become calm and really think about focussing on my 2 sweet kids, rather than just feeling frustrated at them.

Thank you - you certainly minister to me, with your wonderful blog.

I so needed the "me time" talk today! I have been going a little extra crazy lately without a hubby during the week (he's been working 4 hours away and is only home on weekends). Last week and this week have been particularly difficult. I needed the pep talk. Today I got some much needed "me time" at the beach with a friend. The kids played really well so I got to have a great ADULT conversation. It was an unplanned spur of the moment trip. It showed me that God does know my needs and will answer them in sometimes unexpected ways. You'd think I'd have learned that by now!

This post is really wonderful. The first question is really nice and I really love your answer. I believe that more than our desire for things to happen in our lives, the acknowledgment that everything happens for a reason and that what is happening is God's plan for us is really important. We may want to be a mother of three or a mother of 12, a career woman or a plain housewife but whatever our role is, one should believe that 'I am this, because God knows I fit the role' and that 'I can make the most out of this role'. Our role is sometimes not easy, but we should always remember that it is a blessing more than a responsibility. I admire you for your answers to the questions. Continue what you are doing and I admire you for being who you are. Thanks.:)

And you know we aren't the ONLY ones who are wondering when the big announcement will be!! Let me just tell everyone who reads this precious blog that my husband and I have joyfully received 7 arrows in our quiver thanks to Mark and Kimberly's sweet and deeply devoted walk with Jesus including being open to His direction in family planning. She and Mark played a huge role in helping me grow in my own walk just before I got married. God is good for He places the right people in your life at the right time. Thanks again Mark and Kimberly.

Love your blog- truly inspirational! Although I do not homeschool my 7 children, I often wish that I had started when my girls were little. My life has changed a lot from when I started having babies over 16 years ago, and I think it would have been a great thing for us. But I know it's an option if I ever feel called to do so ;-) I'm going to try your magnetic wall- LOVE it!!!

Loved it! Thanks especially for your views on "me time." I had a question come up this week that was similar, and the mom was contemplating going back to work because she missed adult conversation. I asked her to consider her old age, and said that I've never met a person who wished they had spent more time working, but countless people wish they had spent more time with their kids. It's worth thinking AHEAD so you can make the right decisions NOW.

Thanks for answering my questions. I followed the links you gave and it was very insightful. It did however bring up another question. :) You mentioned homebirth. Do you use a midwife or go unassisted? We had the first four in the hospital, the next four were homebirths, and the last one started as a homebirth and then we had to transfer to the hospital to have my first c-section. I really hated that, but it was what we had to do.
