Swine Flu Strikes the Olives

We just got back from the doctor and Carter (7) tested positive for Swine Flu.  I took him in because he was wheezing and having a hard time catching his breath and sure enough, even after a breathing treatment his blood oxygen level was around 91.

We’d love your prayers for Carter.  He will be on breathing treatments, but since the first one didn’t help him as much as our doctor would have liked, he will also have to be on steroids which can possibly cause heart arrhythmia of which Carter has a long history.

We will be going back to check his oxygen levels tomorrow.  Amber (12) is exhibiting many of the same symptoms and our doctor is assuming that she has the same thing.

So if you are willing, we would appreciate your prayers for no complications and easier breathing for Carter and for the illness to cease from spreading in our family.

Oh, and I don’t mind at all if you pray that their mommy will trust God and not worry. ;)

So sorry to hear this. Prayers going up for your family!

PS: We were looking at a farm to buy this past weekend, and it has a sweet little house that could be our school house. My 12 y.o. daughter said, “We’ll have to paint one wall with chalkboard paint and another wall with magnet paint.” Yes, I tell my family all about your cool ideas. LOVE the rain gutters, too.

Remember- the swine flu is just one strand of flu. Contracting it doesn’t mean anything bad will happen! We’re praying and believing for complete healing. I will add you and your little ones to our church prayer chain.

Thanks, Joy, for the reminder to everyone that the swine flu is just another strain of the flu. Kimberly, as you already know, fermented foods are one of the best defenses against bad bacteria. I would suggest giving your other kids more kefir or other fermented foods or even just a good probiotic to help them possibly avoid it. I am going to start making some batches of kefir to build our immune systems for the coming winter. We are praying for you. :)

Praying that you will trust God and not worry. Seems so easy in your head, but not so easy in a mommy’s heart!

We will also pray for all of your children to be healthy, quickly- with no complications!

Dear God, I am in agreement with the preceeding prayers! Please heal Carter and Amber from the flu quickly. Protect Carter’s heart and protect the rest of the family from getting sick. I thank You for Your Blessing resting on this family and that it’s You who are in control, not Satan. In Jesus Name, AMEN

Kimberly I’m so sorry your kids are sick! It’s in the Mommy job description to worry… ;) Especially when things happen that are out of the ordinary and scary like this. I hope you have a peace about this and that you have the strength to take care of sick kids… always exhausting for the mama. I’ll keep your family in my prayers! **HUGS**
