Yard Sale Saturday: Slim Pickin’s

Just so you don’t think that I find amazing deals every time I go out, I thought I’d include one of my less productive Saturdays. (Remember that I post at least a week behind on these yard sale posts.)

I spent $1.50 today, plus $10 of some one elses money. :)

I bought this Spirograph set ($.50) for the children.spirographThis falls under what to buy #9.  I do not intend to keep this forever, but the children have already gotten more than 50 cents worth of enjoyment out of it and I have loads of lovely spirally pictures up on our magnetic wall to prove it.  When they tire of it or when I tire of finding pieces of it around the house, we will give it away.

I’m not going to show you a picture of the hostess gift that I purchased for $1.  (Some of my friends do read this blog and some  even invite us over for dinner. ;) )  I only purchase things that are new and still in the packaging.  I like to find home decor items, candles or fun kitchen gadgets to use as hostess or thank you gifts.

The items that I bought for my friend were actually the most interesting and fun.yellow windowwhite windows
I found these old windows that Gabrielle wants to use to make a cold frame for $2 each.

I can think of lots of lovely things to do with the window frames. What is a cold frame?

    Cinderella,
A cold frame is a set up so that you can grow plants during the winter. It keeps them from freezing or becoming covered with frost. I’m not sure beyond that, these are for my friend who will be making them.

    Joy,
I also loved Spirographs as a kid. I think that is why I bought them for our kids, nostalgia.

I had one of those spirograph’s when I was little! I forgot about it until I just saw that box. It was one of my favorite toys!

Spirographs!!! I had that! LOVED IT!

And I want to see what y’all do with the window frames. I once picked one up by the side of the road but it ended up falling apart, the glass shattering, etc.
