Win an HP Mini, Simplify Your Life

As a mother to 10 children I’m interested in simplifying my life in as many ways as possible.   The Mom Bloggers Club and Hewlett Packard want to know how a brand new HP Mini 110 with Windows 7 would help with that task.

We currently homeschool our children using one computer for the whole family.

With a second computer wait times would be halved and productivity doubled.  Lines would be lessened and squabbles eliminated decreased.

With the portable, light weight HP Mini the children would be able to use the computer while we are on the go to the doctor’s, music lessons and even grandma’s.

An HP Mini would also improve mother/child relationships as I’d be able to work on the computer while the children work on their independent computer studies.   No more excuses to dad that they didn’t get their computer work done because Mom was busy blogging.Having such a small, powerful computer with the new features of Windows 7  would make blogging, networking and staying in touch while on the go a snap.  Not to mention that an HP Mini would be a lot more hip to take to a major blogging conference than my current computer.

Don’t you think an HP Mini would simplify your life?

11:30 pm

The Mom Blogger’s Club is pairing up with HP to give you and me the opportunity to win an HP Mini.   The  three MBC members with the most creative posts about how an HP Mini would simplify our life will each win one.

They are also giving away HP Minis to 3 random commenters.  That means you!

To enter to win this computer:

Yes, it’s that simple.  Winners will be announced on January 29.

Holy cow! My kids have been begging for their own laptop. I know it would make some things easier for them – but the expense! Being able to do their math drills, piano lessons, foreign language lessons, guitar lesssons… all this must be done with a computer. Sometimes we just have to take a number!
    Very cool giveaway, thanks!

My homeschooler w/ autism ***AND I*** could work *anywhere* together w/ an HP Mini! (Now the sentence makes sense.) There’s not enough room at the PC and the PC isn’t portable. I so long for a laptop or mini where we could sit at the breakfast bar or dining room table and work on a project together. We’re working on the “we” stuff, the “between you and me” stuff. Psychology calls it “guided participation”. A mini would so assist with that! Thanks for the opportunity to enter.

    Oh, your photos are precious!!!

An HP Mini would simplify my life. We are mostly a Mac family, but we have so many things that are PC only for the kids. It’s not ten kids lined up… but I do have 5 trying to do things all at the same time, on a desktop that is on its last legs. This would make life so much easier!!

I am not a homeschooler and I do not have ten children. But I am a medical student, and I have to constantly carry my laptop back and forth to class. A smaller computer like the HP Mini that I could just use sometimes for the commute would help immensely, and give more room in my bag for textbooks!

A mini would definitely simplify my life because I wouldn’t have to lug around that big heavy laptop anymore!! And it would fit inside my handbag instead of being so conspicuous in a carry around laptop bag. And besides, you don’t always want to carry your laptop with you but leaving it in the car is a direct invitation to thieves to break in and steal it. Being able to carry it in my purse is a major advantage! Great giveaway!

Unfortunately don’t have the money at this time… I’m a 23 year old housewife and SAHM to four children. (My husband’s first two; 6 and 5 years, my 2 year old, and our newborn!) I’m continually trying to complete some online classes but I can’t go get on this computer and spend the time needed with a 2 year old running free! A mini would be great for sitting in their rooms or the living room so I’m present and they aren’t tempted to draw on my walls… 😛

I think having any kind of Laptop would make my life simpler. We homeschool using a online curriculum & thus on the computer ALL day long. But with running errands, appointments, picking up & dropping off my husband at work. She would bring her work a long with her. And it would fit nicely in my bag without having to carry too many extra bags, while holding baby #4 in arms and child #3 by hand. Oh that would be nice to have life a little more simpler.

This HP 100 Mini netbook would be a blessing to our family, as we only have one old desktop to share amongst our family of 7. We rely heavily on spreadsheets, lists, email and schedules, etc. to streamline our day to day activities, and the portability of the HP 100 mini would make it so effortless and stylish. [Reply]

  191. Kirsten
    January 21, 2010 | 1:23 am

How would we use an HP mini? Let me count the ways!

    1. Fellowship. While I adore staying home with my babies day in and day out, there comes a time when I feel, well, deflated. By being a part of email/online Bible studies with family and friends, I could regain that “cup brimming with the Spirit” attitude.

    2. Homeschool. Research, writing, projects, and more! I’m pretty certain that you know, as well as I, the vast number of amazing opportunities it would present!

    3. Work. In the last year, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to write for a county-wide newspaper as make a small bit of income to boot! It affords me the opportunity to get out of the house a few times a month (wahoo!) and experience the world while “bearing fruits.” There is even a potential that I may get a light-hearted, recurring column to share my faith and homesteading ways!

    4. College. My husband’s new job affords him the opportunity to go back to school (fully reimbursed), getting him that much closer the engineering degree he’s always wanted. I’m certain that he’d appreciate the use of a computer from not only this decade, but one that hasn’t been completely overwhelmed by all things VeggieTales!

    5. The Homestead. Trying to juggle a small-scale, start-up farm with livestock schedules, financials, and the never-ending paperwork can be a real chore. I can’t even begin to imagine what we could do with a fully-funtioning, technological marvel!

    6. Last, but not least, blogs! Being that our current laptop is only borrowed, I dread the day we may not be able to connect with others, both through our blog and blogs we frequently visit. (Wink!)

Whew! Having said all that, I’m sorry you’ve just finished reading an entire novel when all you asked for was how we’d use the HP mini. I don’t suppose you’re giving away anything having to do with keeping one’s thoughts and words simple and condensed, are you?

    Blessings to you,
    Kirsten

I hope you win one! A HP Mini would be really neat to have like you said “for the go”. With several homeschooling children, we have to pack up and go to PE and speech therapy, with the occassional doctor’s visit, so school is sometimes done in the car. This would be great to use!

I’m a special education middle school teacher. An HP Mini would simplify my life in SO many ways. I recently received a proxima/projector (from a fellow colleague who was dying of cancer – he passed a week ago). Using the HP Mini in hand with the projector would make designing lessons a blast and of course more interesting for the students. Carrying it back and forth to work while loading my screaming 20 month old in the car would be a cinch. We just heard (Jan. 12) my school, Powell Jr. High, will close at the end of the year (to save money and because of declining enrollment). Starting off at a new school I’d likely be last on list for technology not only because I’ll be new but also because special ed usually gets the leftovers. An HP Mini could be a lifesaver.

Just found your blog – I love it! Your post above this one about discipline is wonderful! My parents constantly got comments about our good behavior when we were out and now my sister gets comments about how well-behaved her 6-year-old son is. Often people say she “lucked out” with a good kid, but that is never the case – it takes a lot of work! I have a 6-month-old baby girl and because her father and I love her, she will be disciplined!

Every day is a question mark as to whether we will be able to turn it on or not. Finances are not such that we can go get another soon… once it goes, it’s gone! Another working computer would make my life much easier. School reports are coming quickly and one just won’t do. Love keeping up with you and your family. My daughter wants a computer of her own so bad. She has big plans for one too. She wants to do all sorts of research on it, with the occasional game thrown in there too. Since my hard drive quit working last year, we are down to one PC and there are only 5 of us. I couldn’t imagine having as many kids as you and only having 1 computer. Kudos to you momma!
