There are some changes coming to the blog that I thought might interest you since they will affect my posting.
I recently stepped down from The Old Schoolhouse Homeschool Crew in order to have more flexibility and control in the products that we choose to use with our children. That means that our family will be getting back to the homeschool products that we know and love and some of new ones that we found through the Crew.
It also means that I’ll be posting reviews much less frequently. I still intend to do reviews, but I will be sharing about products that our family is interested in or products that we currently use and enjoy in our home and homeschool.
I hope that these changes will be as beneficial to you as they have been for our family.
My favorites from my time on the Crew:
- Young Scholar’s Guide to Composers – Excellent composers study.
- All About Spelling and the Beehive Reader – My favorite spelling program.
- Rocket Phonics – Plan to use this in conjunction with 100 Easy Lessons to teach the rest of our children to read.
- Virginia Soaps and Scents – Homemade soap, shampoo and laundry soap.

Thank you. I LOVE homeschooling and want to share that joy with others. It’s such an amazing blessing and privilege.
I’m looking forward to posting about my favorites, things that help make our homeschool the joyful experience that it is!

I much prefer reading about how you manage a large family, train your children and how you homeschool as opposed to products you were given simply for the sake of reviewing. I think this “change” will benefit your family and your readers.

Thank you! I’m really excited about all the ideas that are forming in my mind of different things to post about. I already have a weeks worth of posts written and more ideas keep coming.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought about doing that. I’m toughing it out until the end of the year, but I will definitely not be trying out for a second year. With the exception of Virginia Soaps and Scents (nothing against them, but not my fave), all of your favorites are on my favorites list, too.
I am looking VERY forward to being back to doing our own thing next year.

Our thoughts and experience on the Crew seem to be identical.

I’m so happy to hear you are cutting back on your reviews for the TOS crew. Your reviews have been wonderful, but I know how much time they have taken. I know it’s been fun, but I can’t imagine how that has impacted your family! I’m thankful and excited for you – and I look forward to hearing about all YOUR favorites. Thank you SO much for the time you spent with me a few years ago on email turning me on to some of them – you know they have really helped our homeschool experience! Love you guys!

Oh Kimberly, I just read that you’ve left the Crew! I can completely understand that, and I wish you well, but I’ll miss your insight on the forums. You’ve been a great inspiration to me.
Bravo for doing what’s best for your family.
Blessings,
Annie Kate
