I love homeschooling but just like everything else, some days are harder than others. It’s on those days it helps to remember why you’ve chosen to homeschool. My 8 and 9 year old gave me a tangible reminder a few weeks ago.
Accompanying the note were two small wrapped packages. In one package was a yellow butterfly ring. This represents three of Alyssa’s favorite things, yellow, butterflies and jewelry. In the other package were 4 small BBs from Carter’s amphibious tank (another prized possession).
Yes, I realize that there are some capitalization and spelling errors in the note. I also realize that I have the hearts of two young children and capitalization and spelling pales in comparison. Besides, Lord willing, we have a l-o-n-g time to work on capitalization and spelling.

How sweet!! Gaining and keeping their hearts and then turning them over to God….that’s why we do what we do. I need to work on some heart keeping today!

I have several of those special notes displayed by my bureau to help me get through those rough days. It is not always easy but it is such a joy to train up our children at home and cultivate their hearts for the Lord. Keep up the good work Kimberly for you are going to reap a harvest!

Priceless! I love getting these from my kiddos. Especially the gift of love! Treasured toys, special candy, etc. It’s the best!

I Love Homeschooling Too!!! I love that the focus is Love, Character development, and Turning to Christ rather than capitalization, arithmetic, and grammar errors. It’s focusing on what is really important, eternal matters.

Amen!
Do you find that you have to remind yourself of the real focus often? It’s much easier to get caught up in the academics.

I came by from a link at Connie’s (Smockity Frocks), and boy did I need to see this today. It was a particularly challenging afternoon, and I wish I’d seen this early. But as the saying goes “better late than never”. Thank you!
