Potty Training Revisited

We finished up our ‘school year’ on Wednesday and plan to start our new one Monday.  During our break, I’m going to stop procrastinating and get back to potty training Nicholas (now 2).

If we’re successful before the baby is born (in about eight weeks), it will be the first time our house has been diaper free since our first was born more than 13 years ago.  We’d love your prayers.   To be continued….

Want to know what our day is likely to be like?  I live-blogged our first day of potty training.

I’m glad I could provide some inspiration. Thanks for visiting my blog. I hope your pting goes very smoothly! I ALMOST feel like I should have several more children to see if the first four were just flukes, or if this method is really just the way to go. ALMOST. Hehehe! Have a great day.

For the record, Saturday he remained clean and dry all day, including nap time, had one accident before bed, but has stayed clean and dry since. Nap time, bedtime, everything, no diapers, no accidents!!!

Ahh, the joy of diapers! We’ve still got 2 in diapers (Daniel age 2 and Oliver age 1), but Daniel should potty train before the baby arrives in November. Daniel will be 3 in October. Oliver will still be in diapers though, that’s for sure.

I’ve found that it really depends on the child. I only had one that potty trained before age 3, and one that was resistant even at 3…LOL. It is much easier when they are close to 3.

It would be neat to be diaper free for even a few weeks though. . . just imagine what it would be like not to wash cloth diapers! Good luck!

I am in the middle of potty training our two year old. I didn’t really feel like doing it with a new baby in the house, but he was ready to start. He’s doing great . . .except when he has to wear clothes. Well, actually, in the last week or so, he’s been doing well, even with clothes on, especially since I rarely remind him to go. I sort of depend on him to remember.

Oh I hope it goes well for you! We currently have three in nappies (diapers) and another baby due in December. Only my eldest is potty trained (he’s 5 and finally trained himself over a few days when he was 3). My nearly-4-year-old had me concerned not being ready, to the point that I asked the doctor about it, but she said some boys are not ready until age 4 (!!!) so I should not worry. I think he is finally beginning to show signs. He had no control at all before a couple of months ago. I have a 2-year-old as well, and I’m hoping he might be ready much sooner than his brother! Mine are all boys so I’m sort of expecting they might not be ready till after they turn 3 (we don’t generally bother trying until then anyway). It would be nice to have only one in diapers when the new baby arrives! We did use cloth but once we had 3 in them, it got too much!

I hope you get a diaper break for a month or so! :)

I hate potty training with the burning fire of a thousand suns…

That’s all I got, sorry. I’m in the throes of it myself – Little did get up in the night to go potty on Friday night though! Yay – seems like a milestone!

I hope you can enjoy a few weeks of no diapers before the new blessing. I have been there before

Ugh potty training! :p Good luck to you! I tried for a year and a half with my daughter and then she just trained herself overnight around her 3rd birthday. My son is 21 months and since I’ve been dealing with “24-7 sickness” for the last 5 months I haven’t pushed it yet with him. I have entertained the thought that it would be sweet to be diaper free for a bit before the new baby arrives. I just don’t know if *I* have the oomph to potty train right now. Then again I’ve got that nesty urge kicking in finally so maybe I’ll just make a week of kitchen-themed nesting and keep the tot and the pot in there handy while I clean. Hmmm…
