I’m glad that you were able to make a wrap. Bella loved the Moby. As a matter of fact at 13 months she still loves the Moby.

I’m with you. I use both the wrap and the ERGO. I can’t just pick one.

I thought I’d better update my comment… I tried the Baby Bjorn once, but the next day discovered my son’s hernia and was scared to use it again for fear it would put pressure in the wrong spot.

But then? I bought some woven fabric and made myself a wrap. We love it!! It was a lifesaver in those days after his hernia surgery when he was still in so much pain. He’s just finally big enough to Ergo carry without the insert, and I go back and forth between the Ergo and the wrap because I love both.

(Needless to say…the Baby Bjorn carrier went to the consignment shop…)

That makes sense about a sling not being hands-free–not to mention hurting the shoulder! Babies R Us does have a good price–I was noticing that. I’ll have to look for some online coupons, since they don’t carry the Moby wrap in stores…

For now, I think I’ll use my Baby Bjorn front pack for when I want something less bulky than the ERGO with insert. As far as I can tell, the Baby Bjorn doesn’t carry him much differently than the Ergo, except that perhaps his legs are spread slightly more apart…

I do prefer a wrap over a sling especially for little ones. I do not find that slings are hands free with small babies and they hurt my shoulder after a short period of time.

I’m not sure how good of a deal you’re looking for, but Babies R’ Us carries Moby Wraps. Maybe they have coupons?

Thank you! We are enjoying having another little one around the house.

Appreciated your feedback, since I know you like ERGOs! I guess I’ll have to keep an eye out for a good deal on a wrap. (Do you prefer wraps over slings?) Meanwhile, I’ll keep struggling with the ERGO insert, and look forward to using the ERGO even more when he’s older.

Hi Gretchen. I honestly didn’t like the infant insert. It seemed to hurt Bella’s feet and she just never seemed comfy or happy in it. It also sticks out far in the front which makes it less practical for shopping or working around the house where you need to use your hands in front of you. The wrap is easy to get the hang of and for me just works a lot better until the baby gets big enough for the ERGO w/o the insert.

I just got an ERGO through a deal at BabySteals.com, and remembered your review (I think it was how I first heard of ERGOs) so came back to re-read it. I’m curious–did you ever try the infant insert? I have it, but have yet to quite get the hang of it. Though I’m quite positive getting the hang of a wrap would be even harder for me. I love the ease of the ERGO, it’s just a bit big still for my 1-month-old–yet the infant insert is going to be quite warm this summer.

I have used several different carriers found the traditional snugglie to be horrid and tried a sling and a pouch, I have always wanted an ergo. We have a new baby due in several weeks and I haven’t purchased one yet still hoping to have the funds! My pouch is going to be too warm and the sling is okay but not as comfortable as I would like. Thanks for the opportunity.

With my last 3 children I started “wearing them more” I have 8 and know I have married children. I would love to encourage them to wear their babies and an ergo baby carrier is just the thing.

I have a maya wrap that I have used with my last two out of four children, and while its been great for that newborn stage, its ROUGH with an older, heavier baby. I tried on a friends ergo a couple of years ago and have been wanting one ever since!! My newest edition is 6 months old and I would LOVE to win this!!

I never even considered myself as a “baby-wearer” with my first two little ones. I had the Baby Bjorn and used it when they were teeny tiny, but after about 2 months they seemed so uncomfortable (and so was I!). Then a friend of mine had a newborn and she used a sling with him. I thought they looked so precious cuddling together and so I was sure that I’d borrow it from her when I had my third. After thinking about it though, I realized you can’t really “baby-wear” a one year old in a sling either! So, another friend loaned me her baby wrap when I had my fourth. Unfortunately in that I felt like a mummy not a mommy! Now my third child is three and my fourth child is one and I still long to “wear my babies”. Maybe the Ergo is what I’m looking for?
