About 4 1/2 year ago some friends of ours gave us a CD by Jamie Soles. That Christmas we purchased several more Cd’s for our family and gave them as Christmas gifts to all the children on our list. They are that good!
Jamie Soles writes and performs children’s music that is chock full of Scripture, Biblical facts and solid doctrine. The music is catchy and enjoyable and not just for children. Mark and I both enjoy our collection of Jamie Soles Cd’s even though our children listen to them over and over and over and over and over. We’ve even been known to start a CD without the children prompting us. There are a few songs in our collection of 10 Cd’s that have a little more of a beat than we care for. We’re not talking Ozzie here, but perhaps a heavy Eagles number.
But the feature that really sold us on Soles’ music is it’s content. Jamie Soles’ music is jam packed with Biblical facts and people, solid doctrine and has a sprinkling of humor. (i.e. “How to Catch a Wife” is about the tribe of Benjamin ~ Judges 21). His music touches on Bible stories
both familiar and obscure bringing more familiarity with Scripture to us and to our children. He also focuses on some stories/events/commands bringing out points that we often don’t notice or that we simply take for granted.
Jamie also includes songs with a lot of information that it’s useful for our children to memorize. Our kids have memorized the apostles, kings of Israel and Judah, the patriarchs, the line of promise (the ancestory of Jesus), the Apostle’s Creed, and more. Two of Mr. Soles’ Cd’s (Ascending and Pure Words) are simply Psalms set to music. We are using those Cd’s as part of our curriculum this year to help our children memorize Psalm 1-16 and 120-134.
You may view all the lyrics and also hear song samples on Jamie Soles website .
Jamie was raised in a home where a relationship with Christ was always a priority. “Bible stories,
sword drills, and Bible memorization were a part of the fabric of our life.” Raised in a large family (the 11th of 12 children), Jamie was introduced to the reformed faith while attending a Bible institute after his graduation from high school. Jamie is now married and the father of 8 children who participate in their father’s music ministry.
I’m not sure that I’ve done credit to these amazing Cd’s and the benefit and enjoyment that they’ve brought to our family. We have been very grateful for Mr. Soles ministry to us and the broader Christian community.
This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to Rebekah who won 2 Cd’s of her choice!
Win your choice of 2 Jamie Soles Cd’s.

I am very particular about music. I was raised in a very musical home, with my mother winning international competitions with her barbershop quartet and chorus. I was very involved with vocal performing during my youth. However, when my focus changed toward loving and serving Jesus I was changed.
The only music we allow around our home is Godly and scriptural, with occasional classical diversions. Often it is worship music, as contemporary Christian isn’t usually deep enough for me.
Our absolute favorite music right now is Songs For Saplings – a delightful homeschooling family singing scripture and catechisms to VERY quality music – not dorky or mediocre whatsoever. Like you with Jamie Soles, I’ve been giving away Songs For Saplings cds to everybody I can think of – I can’t recommend them highly enough. I often put on their music without prompting from the kids. I even made a few of her songs into ringtones.
I have heard a few Jamie Soles songs when I accidentally found them on iTunes for free. We enjoy them too. We’d love to explore his music further – particularly with your raving review.

Very proud to say I live in the same city as Jamie Soles!! (Funny story – I heard about him first on Life in a Shoe and the googled him and found out he lives here, lol!). We have one of his albums but would love more!! Music has always been a big part of my life, I’m still very involved with worship teams at church and hope my kids will love music as well! Just in the last week my 7yo and 4yo memorized The Patriarch Song by Jamie and have been singing it all. day. long. LOL!

I recently came across Jamie Soles and listened to several samples online. All of his cds are now on my wish list and I’m hoping to get one before our upcoming long road trip to Texas. We love playing music cds that are filled with Scripture to help fill our kids’ hearts (and ours) with His Word.

Music soothes me when I get stressed. We love to have good music playing while we clean. It keeps you motivated and keeps your spirits up.

I have never heard of Jamie Soles! I would be really interested in checking him out further. Music plays a BIG role in our family as our children do not watch any television. My hubby likes VARIETY
So we listen to a ton of music and new stuff all the time. Thanks for the recommendation!

I have never before heard of this guy but I’ve been on the lookout for some good music the kids AND us adults can enjoy! We have a few of the Wee Sing albums and I love how music is a great teaching tool. My 3 year old was confused one day when I pointed out an American Flag as we were driving. She didn’t realize that there were different flags for different countries and events- flags were just cool colored rags flopping in the breeze to her. We turned on a Wee Sing America song which has a chorus that goes, “Hurrah for the flag, our country’s flag, it’s stripes and white stars too!” and by playing it through a few times she was able to instantly recognize the American flag everywhere we drove. So that is what I focus on when I choose to allow my kids to listen to something; what is it teaching them? When they memorize the song, what is it they are imbedding in their hearts? Is it things that they should know and keep, or something I’m going to wish they would forget? Is it something that is going to bring joy when they sing it, or something that will irritate the daylights out of everyone who hears it? And for myself, when I listen to music, its a similar goal. I listen to music to pick me up out of a funk or to help me work through an emotion. Sometimes a rough patch in life is too deep and dark for a scripture to sink in when read straight up, but it will hit the center of the mark when shot from the bow of music. It’s important to know that the doctrine is sound behind the lyrics. I personally have no problem with a good beat and neither does my husband! Some people dear to me DO have a problem with faster or louder music. The beat is the bow, not the arrow. The lyrics are the arrow and if the bow is the right type of melody, it will hit home. Some hearts like a mellow melody and some like a fiestier one, but IMO it’s only the catalyst that gets the words to you so the music is simply a matter of personal preference.
Thanks for this giveaway! I would be totally stoked if I were to win and get to try out some new music!

We love playing music that reinforces scripture memory as well as general principles from the Word. Music helps provide a common recreational activity for us, b/c Daddy plays guitar while the children sing along.

We love music in our family. It’s a big way in which we praise God and learn about Him. Thanks for introducing us to Jamie Soles!

I have just learned of Jamie Soles music and am excited at the opportunity to possibly win a CD of his. We often listen to music in our home, although I am not always thrilled with some of the “Christian” artists out there and not convinced that their music is glorifying to God. Sometimes it seems so secular sounding. This sounds like a more wholesome choice.

Music is a HUGE part of our lives. In fact my beloved is a musician and is busying passing that love onto our 22 month old and our coming any day Baby 2! There is nothing like watching him play and our Little Guy run to get his instruments to play along…sweet moments.
If you ever need some fun, upbeat music that has an education bend you should check out http://www.pintsizepolkas.com
Yup, he plays the accordion!
This sounds like a great set of CDs to add to our family library.

Music is a big part of who we are. My husband and two sons sing on our church’s praise teams, and my husband is a back-up for the regular worship minister. My oldest plays piano, cello, electric bass, ukelele, and is right now at a friend’s house building a set of pipe drums. My second son plays violin and electric and acoustic guitar. My older daughter plays piano and wants to start harp this fall. Our youngest wants to start piano this fall. We love the Harrow family CDs – they are all scripture set to music, and both girls have memorized them all. Whenever we come across a scripture in our Bible reading that they know, they burst into song. They also like the Audio Memory geography songs (part of Sonlight Core 1 & 2). I’ve never heard of Jamie Soles, but I will go look him up right now. He sounds great, and I would love to win- I know I will have a hard time choosing which to buy first! Thanks for the info!

What a wonderful giveaway! Music is a gift from God and my dd and ds both love to sing and dance to anything we put in the CD player(which is only Christan). We do not have cable or satellite, so music is a wonderful way to entertain and teach our sweet kids that God has blessed us with. Thanks for offering this! God Bless!

I have heard good things about Jamie Soles, but have never heard any of his music! We enjoy listening to uplifting music at our house, our toddler LOVES music, so we have music going for a lot of the day. He loves instrumental and piano music so we have several CD’s like that. We also love hymns and “kid” songs, such as Seeds Family Worship albums and a current favorite is a Joshua and the Battle of Jericho book on CD followed by a few songs. I would love to have music that is pure Scripture- it would be wonderful for memorizing verses (for my husband and I as well). I find that listening to music that glorifies God helps to keep my mind on HIM instead of on myself or my circumstances- and having a 19 month old and a 7 month old can be overwhelming at times
I would also love for my son’s love of music to aid him in learning more about the Lord, worshiping Him, and taking to heart God’s word. This is a great giveaway. Thanks for the opportunity to enter!

Hi Kimberly,
What a wonderful give-away! After reading about your family worship time and how you’ve integrated Jamie Soles’ music into your curriculum, I immediately went to his website and purchased two of his albums. We’ve been listening to Ascending in the car and my 5 year old actually asks for it! But as far as the purpose of music in our family…it’s a HUGE part of our worship, our learning, and how we spend time together. My girls love to sing and dance to the music, expressing themselves with songs they make up themselves. Often times, the songs we listen to will find their way into the songs they create. As a mom, this has been awesome to witness. My children really absorb the words of the songs, the music and the feelings behind the words. I am so thankful to God for giving us the gift of music, and for Jamie’s gift of creating a new way to listen and learn God’s word.

Music is one of the easiest ways to get my kids to listen. I could tell them something several times and it not stick. If they hear it in song only a few times, they have it written on their hearts!

We love music in our family! We are thankful that God gave us the gift of music and song to lead us in one aspect of worshipping Him…We are focusing even moreso on music in our home now because we are realizing how uniquely God shaped our 26 month old–he relates to music more than anything else. We sing ALL DAY LONG
Our little guy plays a mini guitar, drums, & piano “singing” songs about God and our family. We know that music is instrumental in shaping his worldview, so we are excited to check out Jamie Soles!!

We love all kinds of music & it wouldn’t surprise me if at least one of my children ends up in the music industry like their father was for a while. Learning the Bible through music sounds perfect for all of us & I’ll probably consider giving these for Christmas this year. Thanks!

Wow, I just found your website, very cool. I will enjoy looking around and seeing all the fun things you have on hear.
Singing scripture is very important to me. It allows the words to bypass the mind and go straight to the heart. In fact in the beginning I learned scripture through song before I learned it through the Word. I believe singing scripture to my son is very precious and important to me also. It allows me to show him my heart towards God and invites him to share in that with me and my husband. Every night he asks me to sing about Jesus right before he go to bed, and I can’t say no to this request!

We use music in our home as part of our family worship to help our 3 year old son memorize scripture. Music also is always in the background of our lives at home and in the car. As a mom of two young ones, I have discovered that uplifting music gives me more patience and a better attitude throughout the day! Praise the Lord!
