So Life Doesn’t Get Too Boring

I was planning on finishing up Birth Story #3 and posting it today, but my plans were changed.

Yesterday afternoon one of the kids had a doctor’s appointment and while we were out contractions began.  Since I’m 37 weeks +2 this wasn’t surprising.   By the time we got home the contractions were regular at 5 minutes apart.

They continued all afternoon and evening, so rather than blogging, the oldest girls and I ran out to get some last minute necessities for baby, birth and a hospital stay.  By around 9pm contractions were getting longer and were 3 minutes apart but still not ‘real’.  I began to realize that I’m really NOT ready for baby to arrive.  Thankfully, they spaced out around 11:30 and I was able to go to sleep, kinda.

The great thing about this reminder that the baby really could come anytime is that I’m very motivated to finish up preparations.  I now have a packing list for the hospital and have started gathering our things.  Baby arrives in two weeks from today so it’s time to prepare.  :)

Thank you for all of your wonderful comments, ideas, prayers and support in response to my last post.  I hope to respond to those in the next day or two, but want you to know that you have been an encouragement to me.

Love it! Nothing like a few contractions to get ya moving on your TO DO list! :0)

Hoping you will get it all done, and then have time to rest up and relax before delivery day!

Praying for you and your family.

Hmmm… maybe that’s what I need to accomplish more – contractions.

THAT would knock everyone’s socks off… including mine!

That is something that I’d like to see, but I would imagine that it would get you moving. :)

I’m smiling largely here. :) My last two pregnancies have had those “false” but “real” contractions for 2 weeks before the baby arrived. And when those babies did make their appearance, they came fast! 4 hours and 6 hours, start to finish. DH helped me because the midwife (coming two hours away) missed both.

Wow that’s impressive that your contractions don’t start until 37 weeks! Someone told me that sometimes when you have alot of babies the contractions start earlier and earlier. Mine start at 20 weeks and I’m only on #3. Painful ones. Sometimes lasting for a few hours at a time. I’m 28 weeks and yesterday I got home from my walk and was gritting my teeth through the contractions and hubby asked me if that’s normal that I get them so strong so early. I don’t know if it’s normal but I guess I’d rather a few doozies a day for a few months then to be in agony for a few days before the main event. Although I got both with my first… I started contracting regularly with her 2 weeks before she arrived and they kept right on coming for 20 hours a day, 6-12 minutes apart and a minute to a minute and a half long, for the whole 2 weeks until my water broke and I had her. It’s interesting how different it is from woman to woman.

    Kimberly,
I’m just two days behind you if you make it to the sixth. We have an induction date set for the eight for our Lilly Faith. I hope all goes really well for you.

Wow I’m also 37 plus 2 – we’re due date buddies :) I’m having lots of BH contrax during the day but nothing that slows me down. At night, however, I’m feeling some tugging at my cervix. Hoping I’m dilating a little. :)

Just had our sixth on June 1st (and she is precious, of course) but my MIL stopped at our house to pick up our other children and called to tell us that the dog was in heat. She called the next morning and told us that our 20 mo had fever. When my second was born, my first had a temp of 102. What is the deal with the babies having fever when the new babies arrive? Hope you recovery is easy!
