It’s summer and picnic season is in full swing and because we’re here to help the 4 Moms of Many are hosting a picnic recipe link-up today. Here’s your opportunity to garner some new ideas and be able to wow your guests with the great food. At least I’m hoping so
because we’ll be attending a big 4th of July bash and need to bring a side dish and a dessert and I’m in need of some inspiration.
Be sure to visit KimC at Life in a Shoe, Connie at Smockity Frocks and the Headmistress at The Common Room to see what they’re cooking up.
I’ve said it before and I’ll probably say it again, cooking is not my gift and when we’re eating outside (picnics and camping), Mark does most of the cooking grilling because he loves it. But thanks to a friend I do have an amazing recipe for homemade hamburger/hot dog buns that have become a staple at our cookouts. They are even delicious and reliable enough to serve when company is over.
My other picnic idea is these cute ant and hamburger cupcakes that are perfect to make especially if you have kids who are willing to help and I always have one or nine of those around.
Now it’s your turn to share your favorite picnic recipes with me (cause I need them) and everyone else.
Please play by these rules:
- You must link to a specific relevant post on your blog.
- Your post must include a link to at least one of the 4 Moms blogs.
- The post you link to must be completely family friendly.
If your link is deleted, you probably didn’t follow one of the rules above. Please feel free to add your link again once you have fixed the problem. If you don’t know why your link was deleted, please ask.

Hey Kimberly, I’m not linking up because this is an old post from last year. However, this is a really good summer cake recipe and it is on the easy side. It may be a good one for your upcoming picnic! Of course you may need to make more than one cake! http://wearesoparents.blogspot.com/2010/06/my-favorite-summer-time-cake.html
I can’t wait to try your homemade burger buns!

Thanks.
I actually don’t have any access to the link code, so will have to wait until someone else can get to it.

I have loved using your hamburger bun recipe since you first posted it. The thing that really makes it for me is using the canning ring to create uniform buns. I don’t know WHY I never though of that. But do you have a hot dog bun shape? I’ve been trying to figure out how to shape those.

Ahem, hamburger buns – lovely, hot dog buns – not so much. Sorry I can’t help you on that one. If you figure something out, will you please let me know?

Your blog has been a wonderful resource as my family begins the journey of homeschooling. Thank you for your bold, Godly wisdom. Quite refreshing
I linked to your blog from mine as I posted a slightly changed hamburger bun/cinnamon roll recipe. Since we are a family of 5 and living in humid Okinawa I needed to make a few changes.
