Homemade Cinnamon Gift Tags: Kids Can Make This

You’ve probably seen these delightful smelling cinnamon/glue/applesauce Christmas ornaments before. We’ve made them several different years.

This year we added puff paint and Sharpies to spiff up our ornaments and to make them do double duty as adorable gift tags.

Cinnamon Ornaments

1 1/2 cups cinnamon
1 cup applesauce
1/3 cup white school glue

Mix all ingredients together and then ‘knead’ adding additional cinnamon as necessary until you have a nice dough.

Roll out to a 1/4″ thickness and use cookie cutters to create shapes. Don’t forget to use a drinking straw to make a hole for the ribbon.

Let dry for 3-4 days turning occasionally.

When finished drying decorate with puff paint.

You can certainly tell that this batch of ornaments were painted by the older kids

Use a Sharpie to write,

on the back and these sweet ornaments will do double duty as gift tags.

What are some of your last minute craft and decoration ideas?

Great idea! Pinned it to my Pinterest account. Do you have one? If so, would you mind sharing it so we can follow you?

We used this dough for ornaments last year (minus the puff paint since my oldest was only 4) and they worked great! We made small ones for the kids gifts and larger ones for adult gifts and just wrote the persons name and year on the back. This year I am going to try using this clay from Crayola http://www.crayolastore.com/product_detail.asp?T1=CRA+57-5050 to make our gift tags. Can’t wait to try it.

Oh, we will be making these soon! I’m using fabric gift bags for our family (pretty and re-usable!) and needed some nice and inexpensive gift tags to go on them. These will be perfect! Thanks!

My friend has been making Jazzy Jars for Christmas gifts:

They are so sweet and a pretty frugal idea if you already have the items to make them. I don’t know if you would call them “last minute” but she usually gets quite a few done in a couple hours using scap booking material and mod podge.
