Coming August 2012

We are delighted to announce that God has blessed us with another precious gift. Baby #11 is due in August.

Coming August 2012

We’d love prayers for our family during this time. I’ve been struggling with dehydration over the past several weeks and have required multiple rounds of IV fluids.

Thanks for rejoicing and praying with us.

Hooray for new life!! I’d been thinking we’d see this post soon. (: Sending lots of love & believing your body will settle soon into the feel-good stage of pregnancy. Praying for your family, particularly abounding grace to your older girls as they are no doubt filling in with needs of the family. And to you as well, that the unexplainable gift of joy would be poured out to overflowing in your spirit…even in your cruddiest feeling moments. Thank you for sharing the great news!!

Congratulations on this new precious life! I feel your pain in struggling with dehydration. I am pregnant and due the beginning of July. I have severe morning sickness (hyperemesis) and went through weeks of constant iv hydration at home and then after losing 15% of my body weight causing my body to start shutting down, spent a week in the hospital and am now on TPN 24/7. Take care of yourself and seek all the medical help you need so you don’t lose too much weight!

I do have to say that I read your post Rejoicing in Morning Sickness at the beginning of my pregnancy and was encouraged to know that other women go through difficult times of morning sickness and still praise the Lord.

I’ve never dealt with dehydration before, but have been surprised at how lousy it can make you feel, even a car ride seems very difficult.

I was surprised to see how dehydration can affect us–I couldn’t even drive a car for fear of fainting. Drink lots of gatorade–sometimes it was the only thing that helped me….even more than water.

Congratulations! I will keep you in prayers. Pregnancy is HARD work…but is totally worth it! Every child is a blessing and I always try to focus on that… I didn’t realize until we lost baby #6 in Dec how much I had taken for granted during my other pregnancies….complained of weight gain; tired; etc….then to unexpectantly lose one, well that changes one’s attitude. Will pray for you & your baby’s safety/health!

    Kimberly @ Raising Olives Reply:

Losing a baby does change ones perspective. When I was pregnant with our 4th or 5th I was hosting a mother’s group in my home. Of the 7 women present 5 of them had lost children (not counting miscarriages) or had children that were not expected to live to adulthood.

One of the women was pregnant with a baby who had been diagnosed with trisomy 13. She spoke about how she had previously complained about the discomforts of pregnancy, but that this time she realized that the pregnancy would probably be the only time she would spend with her daughter on this earth. It changed her, she spent the time rejoicing in the precious, yet short time, that God had given her with her baby. Baby Hope was born and lived for just under an hour. That has also changed my view of pregnancy. We have no guarantees and I try to enjoy every bit of this new life because I’m not sure how long it has been given to me.

May the Lord bless you with His peace.

I know you are busy now, but when you get a moment I was wondering if you might answer a question. I thought I had read that you had your tenth via c-section; I just had my sixth this way as he was breech. I’m struggling with the idea that I should use birth control so as to let the scar heal for the two years the dr said it would need. I’m trying not to get too personal here and I’m not even sure I am being clear. I guess my question is how did you handle this situation and I apologize for my being nosy? And very heartfelt congratulations to you and also my gratitude for your shining light. It has led me and my family closer to the Lord.

I have a wonderful OB who is accustomed to dealing with moms of many. As a matter of fact he just delivered a friend’s 19th child.

Our OB loves the Lord, is extremely pro-life and respects large families. All through my C-section with Bella, he hummed ‘Amazing Grace’. As he finished sewing me up he said, “Everything looks great. We can do this again in about 9 months.”

So we were given no admonition from our doctor to wait at least 2 years. I suppose that this has a lot to do with a doctor’s view of children, God’s sovereignty and the blessing of life.

May the Lord grant you wisdom.

Thank you so much. I’ve been researching c-sections(mine was unplanned so I was fairly ignorant) and see that it all comes down to having the right doctor. The disdainful ob who wants to tie my tubes or put me on something will just need to be replaced. I’m new to Phoenix and I don’t know anyone who has a large family so not sure who to see for my next pregnancy-knowing me I’ll need an ob shortly after my post-partum visit Anyway I’m rambling and over-sharing. I am putting my faith in the Lord and I know he will guide me through this divine endeavor. Thank you for your example and answers.

    Dear Kate,
I haven’t had a c-section, but when I was one month along with my 8th child I had a similar abdominal incision. It was for an emergency surgery to remove my left ovary, fallopian tube and the large, about-to-rupture tumor that had mangled them. That scar was sometimes itchy and uncomfortable as it was stretched over the next months, but it did heal. The uterine wall is also remarkable, as I have seen during my present pregnancy: the Lord has healed mine from a partial abruption in mid-December. Subsequent u/s checks look better each time. God is so faithful to ‘gently lead those that are with young’ (see Isaiah 40:11).

How exciting! I am due with our 6th Aug. 9th! I have always wanted a large family. My husband, however, only wanted three. After our 3rd child, God has seen fit to bless us with 3 more to raise and 2 that He has taken to Heaven through miscarriage. My husband still doesn’t want more children, but He is a wonderful father to the ones God continues to bless us with. However, I have had c-sections with every child and am unsure how many more I can have without serious complications. I pray God will give discernment or just take care of that situation for me in some way. My husband wishes me to have my tubes tied this time. I am in constant prayer that if I am unable to safely have more children that God will help me be at peace with it. And if I can have more children, that He will change my husband’s heart. I so love having babies around the house. And as they continue to grow, each new stage has so many more joys. Congrats on your newest addition! I pray all goes well for you and baby!
