4 Moms Freezer Meal Recipe: Link-up

moms of many manage Keeping some meals stocked in the freezer can save time, money and energy.

It is how I ensure that we have something to eat on those days when things just don’t go as planned or when I’ve procrastinated the grocery shopping. We also use our stock of freezer meals to be able to take dinner to another family on short notice.

For a couple of years our family cooked almost exclusively for our freezer. We got together with 4 other families one day every two months and cooked 40-50 meals for each family’s freezer.

Since most things will freeze well, we still try to add one or two meals to our freezer each week by  doubling a recipe that we’re making for dinner. This is my favorite way to cook for the freezer since it requires almost no extra effort.

Hi:) I was just wondering do you just cover most of the dishes with foil and freeze? Also, how long are they freezer safe? My husband is deployed, and I would love to do a lot of freezing before his return. That way I can not be cooking as much, and just enjoy him when he gets home. Just trying to figure out how far in advance would be ok…it would be bad to cook ahead only to find freezer burned meals, and have to cook again:) thanks!

I would love to be able to make freezer meals but we eat a vegan diet and I can never seem to come up with ideas that would work.

Your post is making me want to spend some more time looking into it.

Even something as simple as precooking and flavoring beans might be a time saver. You can also cut up veggies and freeze to use. That is what I posted about today, using freezer “cooking” to help save time with meal prep, while also saving money.

You could also use it to freeze soup, stew, etc.

These are great recipes. I am going to look into this as soon as I get a stand alone freezer for my garage. I tagged you in a game. It’s fine if you don’t want to play. Here’s the link, http://www.coffeeandtheirkisses.com/2012/07/ive-been-tagged.html

I just keep checking to see when your new post for the 4 moms will be up. Hope everything is ok.

We eat a meatless diet and I have been freezing extra portions of our meals. Just to see how they do. So far, things seem fine. Chili and soups are pretty easy. Just having a couple of bags of frozen rice is helpful.

I like to divide up portions of tortillas into smaller bags and freeze those, as well.

I freeze my Vegan cheeses, too. That way I don’t forget about them and they go bad. They are expensive.
